Why “Goverseth”?
Carl our founder, is originally from Cornwall, which is where the name Goverseth Accountants comes from (part of the village he grew up in near St Austell).
Our Founder – Carl Willcock
Carl loves to talk, which has earned him the tag of “The Chatty Accountant!” Businesses need an accountant to help them grow, so they might as well have one that is friendly, smiley, engaging and chatty!
Qualified
Carl is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) since 2006 and Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) since 2011.
Carl is a member of the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) and of the CIOT (Chartered Institute of Taxation), which are both two of the key accounting and tax professional bodies in the UK.
Benefits to our clients include:
Years of studying, exams and work-related training were undertaken to get each of the above qualifications, in the areas of accounting, audit, tax and business strategy, which means that Carl can offer you a competent service backed up by his technical knowledge.
As a member of the ICAEW and CIOT, Carl must regularly attend tax and other related training courses. He can then pass on details of the latest tax changes to his clients in a proactive manner, meaning that clients benefit from the latest advice.
Carl is also required to maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct, which ensures that all client matters are dealt with in the correct way.
Experienced
Carl has over 22 years’ experience within the accountancy profession, having worked for two of the Top 50 UK Accounting Firms (Bishop Fleming and Hazlewoods) as well as one in the Top 10 (Baker Tilly).
Carl has worked in various locations throughout the South West for his previous employers such as Truro in Cornwall, Cheltenham and Gloucester, Bristol and Bath. Carl has also worked for short periods on assignment in London, Birmingham and even Moscow!
Over the years Carl has worked on the accounting and tax affairs of a very diverse client base, ranging from individuals and small owner-managed businesses, to large, listed companies and groups.
Carl draws on all the above experiences when dealing with clients.
